Walker Preserve group shot - column

In a triumph of alliteration, eleven WABI Walkers walked April 15 in the aptly named Walker Preserve.  We had a beautiful spring day to explore Walker Preserve, a lovely ravine park in Normandy Park.  (See earlier post for map and further description.)  The group included special guest Elissa Ostergaard, King County’s steward for the Miller-Walker Water Basin, who has led monthly ivy-pulling campaigns in the park.   She also is the organizer of CSI, no, not that one, this acronym stands for Community Salmon Investigation.    Check the volunteer calendar for the next ivy pulling — Elissa assured us that, as usual, she will bring hot coffee!

Evil ivy — this ivy has been cut so what’s on the tree will eventually die.
